The semi-triangular, bias knit shawl starts with a section of lace pattern, then 8 garter stitch wedges, separated by rows of double yarn-overs, are added one by one. Each garter stitch wedge widens gradually and ends with 2 repeats of the lace pattern.

Long tail cast-on, garter stitch, increases, decreases, working a lace pattern from a chart or written instructions.

Wingspan: approx 196 cm/ 77 in

Depth at the widest point: approx 60 cm/ 24 in


Gauge (measured after blocking)

• Garter St: 20 sts and 32 rows = 10 cm/ 4 in

• Lace Pattern: 1 pattern repeat of 24 sts and 8 rows is 12 cm / 4.75 in wide and 3.2 cm / 1.25 in high

Gauge is not crucial in this project but any changes will affect the yarn amount you use.
